Manzini said this when she presented her letters of credence to President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe on October 31, 2022.

She further said that the bilateral relations between Malawi and South Africa have been in existence since the discovery of gold and diamond in South Africa.

“What we are discussing at the present moment is how to take the relations between the two countries forward by strengthening them. We are a mining country; we are an agriculture county; we also rely a lot on tourism. So we would like to isolate these issues and make sure that we are able to strengthen them based on our economies,” she explained.

In her remarks, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable Nancy Tembo stated the arrival of the new South African envoy to Malawi is beneficial because as a country we have a lot to learn from South Africa.

“There is so much that we can learn from South Africa. South Africa depends on the mining industry, agriculture and tourism. Here in Malawi we recently have discovered some mineral resources which we are yet to explore and we can learn from South Africa as to how they have grown the mining industry as well as mega farms,” she said.
