The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Malawi has demarcated two deaneries in Karonga district as one way of reaching out to many people through evangelization.
In an interview after Sunday mass at Karonga Evangelical Lutheran church, Bishop Joseph Bvumbwe said the church is not aiming at creating new deaneries but expansion of the church so that Christians should have access of churches nearest to them.
Bishop Bvumbwe has also appealed to the deans elected that their responsibility is to make sure they reach out to Christians in their jurisdiction with the message of hope and comfort as they are ambassadors of Christ.
“I am so thankful to God and to God be glory, all the tasks we had have had an overwhelming response we had installed deans for Chilumba and Karonga deaneries”, said Bishop Bvumbwe.
He added that he has also donated two motorcycles at Chilumba, Karonga and Chitipa to the assistant deans as a way of reducing transport challenges in these areas.
In his remarks the newly elected Karonga dean, Samson Swira articulated that he is ready to reach out to the people in the deanery with the help of God and prayers of Christians in order to expand the church.
