Minister of Information Visits Tuntufye FM Radio

The Ministry of Information has promised a better life for community media houses, as they play a big role in communicating to the people.
Minister of Information, Honourable Gospel Kazako made this call on Wednesday, August 19, during a tour to community media houses operating in Karonga District.
In his remarks, Hon. Kazako, said the government acknowledges the efforts which community radio stations are doing to reach out to the surrounding communities with important messages as a way of transforming people’s lives.
Hon. Kazako said despite the challenges community media houses are facing, they also playing an active role in raising awareness on COVID 19 pandemic to help the community understand the pandemic.
The Minister also said through the Access to Information Act which the government is planning to operationalize, it will be very easy to get information from government departments.
“Soon we will be introducing an AK47 which will remove all hindrances denying access to information as people want to know what their government is doing. This law will make denying the right to access to information a chargeable offence,” said Hon. Kazako.
The Minister also appreciated community media houses for they provide accurate and vivid information.
“We have seen what has happened just this year the strength of community radios as they provided information in support of change, hence I encourage these media houses to keep on with the good work,” explained Hon. Kazako.
The Minister was accompanied by Paramount Chief Kyungu for Karonga and Chitipa districts.
In his remarks, he thanked the Minister for visiting Tuntufye FM and Radio Dinosaur. He firther encouraged the communities served by these radios to be ready to share information with the two media houses as they serve as their voice.
During the tour, the Minister also visited Radio Dinosaur and Karonga District Information Office.
